Before I started fashion school, I had no idea there was a colour of the year, not the first time I’ve been wrong about something to do with fashion.. but it’s a learning process, so let’s learn about this special colour.

ULTRA VIOLET.

“Inventive and imaginative, Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come” is how Pantone Colour Institute describes this calming colour.

The importance of colour of the year is that the colour represents what the world is in need o at that current time. 2018 is the year of individuality and creativity and ultra violet is the colour that exudes these traits. Personally, purple in general gives me confidence and an overall feeling of comfort, it is mystical and magical and very romantic.

Colour of the year is not only important in terms of fashion, but also in interior design: Fashion designers as well as interior designers need to be aware of colour of the year in order to keep up to date with what their clients want to wear or how they want their homes to look. It’s all about what’s trending, in all industries.

So if you’ve been obsessed and dressed in ultra violet, you’ve been doing it right.
